In case anyone may be interested, October 22nd there will be a one time showing of the movie Race Across The Sky. This is a documentary covering the 2009 Leadville Trail 100 bike race, one of the most intense endurance races of all time - and candid conversations with Lance Armstrong, Chris Carmichael, Dave Wiens, and other elite and amateur cyclists who overcame extreme challenges to participate in this grueling race. Lance actually won the race beating 6 time winner Dave Wiens. According to the website it will be shown at the following Central Ar theaters on the 22nd.
Breckenridge Village
1200 BRECKENRIDGE DR
LITTLE ROCK, AR 72205

Tinseltown Benton
17314 INTERSTATE 30

Cindy, I'll let you know if we decide to go. I'd like to see it other than having to drive to Little Rock for it.

Looks like James, Michele, Annette and I are in so far for this. May try to go to Bonefish before for dinner if we have time. Movie starts at 7pm at Breckenridge Village.

Don't know if anyone else was there but this was an awesome movie. I would recommend renting or buying it whenever it comes out on DVD. Starts off just with some interviews with Lance and 4 of the top finishers. Goes on to tell about how the race got started and most of all, the race is about normal people and their struggles to finish. They say many times that the race is not about the elite pro's but about the everyday riders which all get to start side by side with the pros. The cameras follow the start all the way to the finish, mostly following the leaders but also showing the average people struggling. There are several stories of athletes that are overcoming major adversity. One lady was hit by a car in 2008, almost died and worked her way back to racing and finishing the race. There are also the ones who trained hard for a long time and just missed the cut off time at the 4 hour point. The photography is excellent and they show all the major trails, up hills and down hills. Worth seeing just to see the beautiful Colorado mountains. And as everyone knows by now, Lance blew away the competition beating 6 time champion Dave Weins by 30 mins. On top of that he finished on a flat tire, riding about 7 miles hoping that Weins never caught him. How he did 100 miles on trails and mountains in 6:28 I have no idea. I didn't think mountain bikes would even go that fast! The movie is somewhat emotional, probably more so for anyone that has had to dig deep to finish a long endurance event such as a marathon or century. It's very inspiring and most of all, it sends the message that if you want something bad enough, you can do it. As Leadville 100 founder Ken Chlouber says "your always better than you think you are and you can do more than you think you can do."
